It was another successful year for the Scarborough Women of Philanthropy (SWOP) Council. With more than 300 guests and 25 vendors in attendance, the sixth-annual Sip, Shop, and Celebrate Women presented by International Group, raised more than $62,000 net for Scarborough Health Network (SHN).
The annual event took place on November 7 at the Guild Inn Estate, with funds used to support the creation of a new Breast Centre at SHN’s General hospital.
The new Breast Centre – housed within the forthcoming Medical Imaging and Vascular Centre at our General hospital – will consolidate critical services like mammography and ultrasound, uniting SHN’s expertise in a single location and drastically enhancing how patients access efficient and innovative breast care treatments.
“It’s truly amazing to see how the community has come together year after year,” says Melanie Warren, Co-Chair of Scarborough Women of Philanthropy (SWOP) Council. “From those who volunteer their time to put this event together, to the vendors, auction item donors, our sponsors and our guests, it requires an incredible team effort and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing how we can all make a difference.”
Guests were joined by several members of the Toronto Fire Fighter’s Association Local 3888, who did their part for the cause by presenting SHN Foundation with a cheque for $1,000 to close out the evening’s festivities.
