Every month, Scarborough Health Network Foundation organizes the Lucky Duck Payday Lottery, a 50/50 draw exclusively for Scarborough Health Network staff. Half of the funds raised each month are distributed to a lucky winner at one of our hospitals. The other half goes towards the area of greatest need throughout the health network.
Registrants who enter are not only eligible to win more than an average of $8,000 in a monthly draw, but they are also supporting medical equipment purchases and capital projects that help our hospitals continue to shape the future of care for Scarborough's patients and families.
"I think it's an amazing way for staff to easily give back to the hospitals and, at the same time, have the chance to change their lives," shared Tasnuva Ahmed, Interim Community Development Manager at SHN Foundation. "To them, the winnings might mean paying off some debt or going on a vacation, but to our patients, it means reliable and exceptional health care. It's always such a great heart-warming feeling when we surprise the winner at their department, and we hope their generosity inspires others in the community to give back as well."
The lottery has been running for more than six years with over sixty winners to date. In total, the payday lottery has raised over $100,000 for SHN.
